Dear MCS Family, I pray that this message finds you safe and healthy. As you have most likely heard, Gov. Abbott released new executive orders today closing all schools for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year. While this saddens me greatly, as I was looking forward to seeing your children in May, I am thankful for and proud of all our teaching staff and administration who have successfully transitioned to online learning. We will continue online learning until May 21st. While we are still working out some kinks, I am blessed to have a team of individuals who are dedicated to the education of children, even in the face of significant trials and uncertainty. We will be getting information to you soon regarding our plans for graduation ceremonies and other very important, previously scheduled events. May God continue to bless your family and our entire Mustang Nation! In Him, Jared Lee, Superintendent

Dear MCS Family, As you most likely know, yesterday Gov. Abbott announced executive orders in response to the disaster declaration which closes all schools, including Private schools, until midnight of April 3rd. Therefore, as of today, we will remain closed until April 6th and will continue to monitor the situation and keep you updated as decisions are made. I do have a few updates I wanted to share with you: - This yearā€™s Musical, ā€œJoseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoatā€, has been cancelled. This saddens me greatly, but we believe that it is the right thing to do under the current circumstances and complies with the CDC, the Governorā€™s and Mayor Paytonā€™s regulations/recommendations. - The TAPPS Musical contests (Choral and Instrumental) have been moved to an online, recorded platform for this year. Mr. Broome and Mr. Jung will be in touch with the students this effects soon. - We are currently unsure of how this closure, especially if it continues to extend, will impact the many events currently on our calendar, including Mustang Run, Elementary Programs, Graduation, etc. We certainly hope we can hold them, as scheduled, but will reschedule, or find other ways to make them happen if at all possible, and will keep you updated as we know more. - Some have asked if this closure will extend our school year into the Summer break. As of now, the answer is no, we currently plan to end this school year on May 21st, 2020. The TEA has released attendance requirements and our accreditation commission has followed suit. Further, we believe by delivering online learning, starting next week, we can justify the decision to stay with the current school calendar. - I am tremendously proud of and thankful for the hard work your childā€™s teacher has put into preparing for virtual/online learning this week. I want to ask for patience as we all move into this new way of learning together. I pray Godā€™s blessing on you, your family, and our entire Mustang Nation at this time! COVID-19 - MCS Update March 16, 2020 Dear MCS Family, I hope this email finds you and your family safe and healthy during this unprecedented time. I wanted to let you know that the administration met for two hours this morning, prayed for our community and for wisdom, and discussed our future plans. After much discussion, we believe it is in the best interest of our students, faculty, and staff to remain closed through the end of next week (March 23-27th). We will continually monitor this situation and provide you with updates as we have them. Here are a few other updates, news, and information as we move through this pandemic together: This week (March 16-20th) is officially an extension of Spring Break. Therefore, no classwork, practices or other activities will take place this week. However, I would strongly encourage every student who can read to grab a book and read something during this time. Further, there are many online educational resources (such as starfall.com and khanacademy.org) that I would recommend your child(ren) use to keep them in the learning process this week. We are working with teachers this week to prepare for and train them in online/virtual learning, which we plan to begin next week (March 23rd). At this time, we do not know exactly what this will look like but hope to have more information for you in the coming days. We are making plans to allow students to pick up personal items and textbooks, in a way that will maintain social distancing, and will have more information on that later this week as well. TAPPS, our athletic association, has suspended all interscholastic competitions and contests through April 12th. Further, they are disallowing all practices while school is not in session. I have instructed our cleaning and kitchen staff to do a deep clean of the entire campus, including wiping down every surface with disinfectant. While we are unsure of what the future will bring, we are certain that God is in control and will guide us through this time. I ask for your prayers for 1) peaceā€¦that transcends all understanding (Phil 4:7), 2) comfort and healing for those who are suffering (James 5:15), 3) safety for our community (Psalm 46:1) and 4) for wisdom as we all navigate the challenges ahead of us (James 1:5). May God bless our entire Mustang family! In Him, Jared Lee, Superintendent Midland Christian School

Dear MCS Family, Out of an abundance of caution, Midland Christian School will be extending Spring Break for an additional week, until Monday, March 23rd. All activities, athletic practices, and games are canceled for the week of March 16-22nd. Our entire administrative team is closely monitoring the rapidly evolving COVID-19 pandemic and will release more information as it becomes available to us. I want to stress that there are currently no known cases of the coronavirus in our community. However, we feel it best, for the safety of all our students, faculty, and staff, to suspend classes while we assess this situation. Further, all students, parents, and faculty who have traveled to, through, or from a level 3 or level 4 travel alert country (including our students who went to Spain and Zambia during Spring Break) will be asked to self-quarantine for 14 days. Teachers will work with these students and any others who choose to self-quarantine, in the coming weeks. Next week we will send out more information regarding those students who will be self quarantined - these students will not be penalized for missing school. Currently, we are evaluating all of our options, including the possibility of online learning, and will reassess and communicate our plans going forward at the end of next week. Again, we are making this decision out of an abundance of caution and hope to have more information for you soon. May God bless you and your family with safety and health during this time.
