TAPPS Realignment Sends MCS Back to 5A

TAPPS released the 2022-2024 alignment and the Midland Christian Mustangs are back in 5A for the next 2 years. The new 6A high school enrollment cutoff number was 410, and MCHS is at 371 students. The new 5A numbers are between 245 - 409. The majority of MCS teams will compete in a new six team District. Current District opponents Argyle Liberty (369) and Fort Worth All Saints (367) will make the move to 5A with MCS. Those three will join Grapevine Faith (338), Fort Worth Southwest Christian (303), and Fort Worth Christian (265) in the new six team TAPPS 5A District 1. There is a slight difference to the Football District as Grapevine Faith will compete in District 2. For Midland Christian Football, it will be a 5 team District with 4 District games beginning next Fall. Track and Field has an eight team District adding Flower Mound Coram Deo and Dallas Cristo Rey. Band will compete in Division 2 (5A). One Act Play is in a new Division 1 District 1.
