Librarian Uses 3D Printer to Create Face Masks for Hospital

Our Secondary Librarian, Karen Higgins, is using one of our most unique resources on campus for the greater good. She began giving back to our medical community by sewing masks for the Midland Memorial staff. After watching an informational video on medical face shields, however, Mrs. Higgins took her creations to the next level and began producing face shields with the library’s 3D printers. She uses the 3D printer to print the bracket and then uses leftover overhead transparency film from the library for the shield. She has donated 20 face masks so far and is in the works of creating at least 10 more. What a wonderful example Mrs. Higgins is of the resourceful ways we can give during this difficult time!
