One of the newest additions to the 2019-2020 school year is the Mustang Mentors program. This program was formed out of the desire to build strong connections between elementary and secondary students. Because we are blessed to all share the same campus, our youngest students are able to observe the high school students on a daily basis. It’s not uncommon to hear “I’m going to be a Mustang football player someday,” or “I can’t wait to cheer at football games like they do!” when walking through the elementary halls.
Dreams like these inspired administration to be intentional about setting aside time each Wednesday for Mustang football players and cheerleaders to “mentor” an elementary class. Each week carries with it a character trait for the mentors to discuss with their class and provides high school students an opportunity to step up as leaders on our campus. It also gives our youngest mustangs the chance to see character traits of a true mustang lived out in the stories shared by the mentors. We are excited about the relationships that will be built through Mustang Mentors!
