Kingdom Education
At Midland Christian School, we are very serious about our mission as stated in our mission statement: “to assist parents in leading students to love God and to seek truth by training them in a Christ-centered environment that emphasizes moral and academic excellence and inspires them to develop their God-given talents for lives of Christian leadership and service.” But do those words make a real difference for our students on a day-to-day basis? We are trying to make sure they do by implementing a program at MCS called "Kingdom Education”. This program is designed to bring Christian values and teachings into every area of the school. We want Christ to reign in all we do at MCS…in our chapels and Bible classes, and also in our math, science, language and history classes…in our athletics and extracurriculars…in EVERYTHING. Everything we do on this earth is shaped by our worldview. Worldview is simply the beliefs we hold and the assumptions we make about reality. Our worldview is like a set of glasses through which we see all that is around us. We at MCS are endeavoring daily to help parents to instill a Biblical worldview in their children. When our students leave here, we pray that they will be shaped by Christ so foundationally that every life choice they make—both large and small—will be different from those who don’t know and love the Lord. We want them to internalize what it means to love and serve God and to have a deep desire for a life that is transformed by Him. We want to surround them in God's perspective in every aspect of their lives.
Here are
just a few steps we are taking to help us achieve this high calling:
A theme is selected for the entire year. This year’s theme is Matthew 7:13-14:"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life and only a few find it. Each week of the year verses are selected from the Bible to help plant God’s word and His virtues in the hearts of our students.
The faculty and staff read Kingdom Education together. We work to look for ways to do a better job of infusing godly perspective into every aspect of life. The school has set a series of goals for each area of the school to take steps towards God’s reign in ALL things. It is our prayer that every decision we make, every priority we set and every plan we make is filtered through our mission. May the Lord bless this humble task.
