High School Counselors Corner
At the start of the school year your High School age student should have been given a packet prepared by our counselor outlining steps to take each year as college decisions grow closer. If you need another packet please contact Raylene Weaver at rweaver@midlandchristianschool.org.
Throughout the year Mrs. Weaver will be visting student classrooms with important date reminders and additional information regarding college information.
Senior College Preparaton Checklist
Year Round
- Continue to follow a rigorous program of study
- Update your portfolio ( May include awards, game tapes, artwork etc.)
- Stay involved and seek leadership roles on your activities
Fall
- Register and take exams such as SAT and ACT and Subject Tests. Check with the colleges you are interested in to see what tests they require.
- Apply to colleges you have chosen. Prepare your application carefully. PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO DEADLINES!
- Well before application deadlines, ask your counselor and teachers to submit required documents (e.g, transcript, letters of recommendation) to the collegesto which you are applying.
- In preparation to apply for federal student aid, be sure to get a PIN at www.pin.ed.gov so that you can complete your application and access your information on-line. One of your parents must also get a PIN.
